PÖBELN II is a playful investigation about (more or less) disturbing encounters in public space organized by Martina Wegener, Helen Weber and Cornelia Fachinger. After Martina Wegener and Cornelia Fachinger initiated PÖBELN I in Berlin for Akademie der Künste, PÖBELN II exposes artists and their contributions to chance encounters and the public space in Stuttgart.

Contributions for PÖBELN II

Self-made Swabian Dumplings, also known as „Maultaschen“ are tattooed with messages to god by the PÖBEL- audience in a workshop at Stuttgarts Schlosspark. Following the myth of Swabian Maultaschen, Swabian monks came up with them to hide meat inside – so God wouldn’t see them eating meat on sundays. Together with some Swabian Potatoes salad, they’re steamed and eaten at the spot.

For the autofictional work Aftermath, Oscar Cueto chose seven spots to shoot iconic movie scenes that had an impact on his life. With participation of the audience and equipped with additional costumes and music, all scenes were shot as one-takes.

Bruder muss los present their latest album „Fame kommt“ underneath a newly built bridge in Bad Canstatt. Chance encounters join the concert for hits like „Wurstchakra“ and „Baby Love“, merch is being sold.

Frèdèric Ehlers Trittmittlaquise is self-distilled Schnaps made from Stuttgarter Hofbräu beer. After getting garnished with mineral water from one of Stuttgarts public mineral water fountains in Bad Canstatt, a public Trittmittel-Tasting happens right at the spot.

The day-tour ends at a parking lot with a Sauna Session built by Martina B. Some last dumplings are steamed on the stove inside. After chosing the right literature from a mobile Pöbel-themed library curated by Martina Wegener, Pöbel participants enter the Sauna in groups of 5. As long as they can, they read and listen to books such as „I love Dick“, „Die Erschöpfung der Frauen“, . Afterwards, naked groups gather to dip into a small stream nearby (no pictures)
