A tag is a cryptic sign. A trace or a signature, a territorial marking of a rival, a good reason for a complaint, a drawing – all a question of perspective. Defiantly they inscribe themselves on the surfaces of the city and claim them until overwritten or removed. Meanwhile, those who study the hand-negatives of Lascaux (FR), Cueva de las Manos (AR), or the Sulawesi Caves (ID) today are still arguing: are they self-affirmations that point to the „human desire to be remembered“? Were they hunting magic, part of „ceremonies we will never know about“? Are they territorial demarcations after all? Whose hands are they that have endured for thousands of years?

And how long will these last?
